
Jorge Amodio is a senior technology executive and engineer with more than 45 years of experience in digital electronics, embedded systems, telecommunications, computer science, and advanced large-scale networking.
He has been actively involved with the Internet community since its formative years, contributing to technical organizations, standards development, and collaborative engineering initiatives. He is a long-time participant in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), a Pioneer Member of the Internet Society, and the founder and former President of the Internet Society’s Argentina Chapter. He also participates in a number of technical and standards organizations, including the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS).
As an International Technical Consultant for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Amodio participated in the development and implementation of the global communications network for Argentina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also played a key role in establishing Argentina’s first permanent Internet connection and contributed to the creation of the country’s National Academic Network and Research and Education Scientific Network.
After relocating to the United States, he contributed to the transition of the government-funded NSFNET infrastructure to the commercial Internet. His subsequent leadership and engineering roles included Vice President of Engineering at VERIO/NTT, Principal Engineer at Serious Integrated, and Chief Technology Officer of the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology.
Amodio currently serves as Senior Space Networking Engineer and Interplanetary Networking Integration Manager at Intuitive Machines in Houston, Texas. In this role, he is focused on the architecture, development, and integration of advanced space communications and networking technologies supporting cislunar and deep-space missions, including NASA’s Artemis program and the broader evolution toward a Solar System Internet.
His work spans terrestrial and space networking, advanced communications architectures, Delay/Disruption Tolerant Networking (DTN), the Bundle Protocol, satellite communications, network integration, and the development of resilient communications infrastructure for environments where conventional Internet technologies are insufficient.
Jorge Amodio holds the equivalent of bachelor’s degrees in Electronics, Telecommunications, and Computer Science. Throughout his career, he has continued his technical education through advanced coursework and programs from institutions including MIT, the University of Colorado, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Texas, Curtin University in Australia, and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.
Throughout his career, Amodio has combined engineering expertise, technical leadership, standards participation, and hands-on implementation across successive generations of communications technology—from the early development of the commercial Internet to today’s emerging cislunar and interplanetary networking infrastructure.
