Greetings from the heart of European innovation and scientific discovery!
This month Common Crawl Foundation members had the privilege of attending 5th International Open Search Symposium at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. CERN is the home of the Large Hadron Collider and some of the most groundbreaking research in particle physics.
The conference serves as a platform to discuss the future of transparent, public search infrastructures. Attendees included researchers, policymakers, legal and ethical specialists, and members of the wider community.
The objectives of both Common Crawl and the Open Search Foundation align closely. While the Open Search Foundation is dedicated to building a search infrastructure independent of commercial interests, we at Common Crawl are committed to ensuring that web crawl data is accessible to everyone, not just large corporations.
Our systems, and those at CERN require precision, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to a broader goal. In CERN's case, it's the quest to uncover the mysteries of the universe. For us, it’s the dream of an Internet where information is equitable and freely accessible.
